Based on the Volvo Group’s leading market insights, Volvo Construction Equipment is showcasing its most advanced equipment and services to date at the 2019 bauma in Munich, Germany, demonstrating its ability to continuously innovate for current and future customers.
Volvo's outdoor booth at the BMW exhibition
The Volvo Group will shine at this year's bauma exhibition in Munich, Germany. With the theme of "Building a Better Life Together", Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Volvo Trucks and Volvo Financial Services will work together to launch a series of integrated products and services. With the joint efforts of all parties, Volvo Construction Equipment has launched the first small electric excavator and wheel loader to fulfill its commitment to be the first in the industry to launch commercial electrified small equipment by 2020.
Leading the trend with the best exhibits
The Volvo booth includes: indoor booth 203 in Hall C6 (2,293 square meters) and outdoor live demonstration area FM714 (5,870 square meters) and additional booth (297 square meters). Volvo pioneered the use of two areas to demonstrate the durability of its products and services, which inspired customers across the value chain. In addition to the two electric machines, the ECR25 excavator and the L25 loader, Volvo's new technological products include the market-changing EC300E electro-hydraulic hybrid excavator, the semi-autonomous EC220E excavator with Volvo Active Control technology (which can automatically control the operation of the boom and bucket), and the compact but powerful EC60E excavator.
In addition to the above products, there are many other Volvo exhibits, including Volvo's smallest pavers P2820D and P2870D, the new generation of wheeled excavators EW60E, the high-altitude demolition excavator EC750E, and Volvo's flagship model R100E rigid dump truck. Combined with exciting live operation demonstrations and impressive indoor exhibition areas, Volvo has displayed more than 50 of the most advanced equipment of various types. Volvo's complete exhibition lineup includes: 47 construction machines, 6 commercial trucks (including Volvo FH series autonomous trucks and several electric trucks), and a variety of Volvo Penta engines.
The "Volvo+" overall solution is the highlight of this year's BMW exhibition. In front of each exhibited equipment, there is a touch screen to introduce users to the complete exclusive equipment services. In addition, the global launch of the new intelligent telematics service ActiveCare is also worth noting. This service will cover equipment health monitoring and provide preventive weekly reports to help owners reduce downtime. In addition, Volvo's "Haul Assist" in "Assisted Driving" (Co-Pilot) has also released a series of application updates. The updated "Haul Assist" has added a real-time truck operation route tracking function to the interface, which can help users further improve the operation of the transport fleet. At the same time, the update also includes the "Vehicle Load Weighing" function that can significantly improve work efficiency.
Turning ideas into reality
There is no doubt that Volvo Construction Equipment is providing practical and effective solutions - these are based on the knowledge accumulated from decades of research. Volvo is bringing clean and efficient products to the market to help build a better world. To this end, Volvo has set up a special innovation display area to show every step of its innovation journey in detail.
The launch of electric equipment is an important historical moment for Volvo to move towards a more sustainable future. The ECR25 Electric and L25 Electric are the first commercial models to be exhibited in Volvo's new electrified compact excavator and compact wheel loader product range. Compared with traditional equipment, these products not only achieve zero exhaust emissions, but also significantly reduce noise levels and energy costs, while improving operating efficiency and reducing maintenance costs.
The power of cooperation
Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo Construction Equipment, Björn Ingemanson, President of Volvo Penta, and Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, jointly held a Volvo press conference during the exhibition. Melker Jernberg said: "Volvo has always been committed to innovation and breakthroughs, from pioneering innovative research and development to the products that are unveiled at bauma today and are ready for market launch. We do not do this alone, Volvo's continued cooperation with all stakeholders proves that true leadership comes from open cooperation. We are honored to embark on this journey with our partners - to provide sustainable solutions for the present and future, and jointly address the most serious challenges facing society.
Following record global sales in 2018 and 12% growth in the European market, the Volvo Group is moving into the future with strong financial strength. Whether it is gaining skills and experience from within the Group or collaborating on countless projects with external stakeholders, Volvo is breaking through the market with leading innovations and "building a better life together".
