April 26, 2018, Shanghai, China - Volvo Construction Equipment recently held a ceremony to roll off the 30,000th equipment at its Shanghai factory. Li Yan, President of Volvo Construction Equipment (China) Co., Ltd., Mr. Andrew Knight, Vice President of Excavator Product Cluster Operations from the headquarters, Ms. Kamila Czaja, Vice President of Quality and Safety, Mr. Francois Guetat, Vice President of Manufacturing Engineering and Lean Production, together with the Shanghai factory management team, site supervisors and Volvo Construction Equipment's star employees in 2017 celebrated this historic moment.

The 30,000th piece of equipment rolled off the production line this time is the Volvo EC380DL excavator, which is equipped with a Volvo D13 engine that meets China's Stage III emission standards. It combines strong digging power, excellent fuel efficiency, low fuel consumption and durability, and can achieve efficient production and continuous operation in harsh environments, which is deeply favored by Chinese customers.
Since entering the Chinese market in 2002, Volvo Construction Equipment has been with Chinese customers for fifteen years. After the factory was completed in 2003, Volvo Construction Equipment began to use the medium-sized production line and delivered the first excavator in April, firmly taking the first step in the development of the Chinese market. A year later, Volvo Construction Equipment's small production line was put into use and successfully achieved localized manufacturing of key welded parts. In the following years, Volvo Construction Equipment continued to invest in the Chinese market, continuously optimized production, and achieved leapfrog growth in production capacity. Volvo Construction Equipment's Shanghai plant has also become one of Volvo's highest-capacity plants in the world, with a mixed-line single-piece flow production line capacity of up to 25 units/shift. At present, together with the Linyi plant, Volvo Construction Equipment's product line in China has expanded to more than 40 types, covering general equipment, road machinery and small equipment, etc., providing more diversified choices for Chinese customers.
After 15 years of development, Volvo Construction Equipment's Shanghai plant has gradually formed a dual-line upgrade of production capacity and output, and has gradually developed from relying on imports of core welded parts to a production and operation model capable of exporting. The Shanghai plant is currently an important part of Volvo Construction Equipment's global production system.
From the first excavator rolling off the production line to the production exceeding 30,000 units, Volvo Construction Equipment has used fifteen years to prove its determination to deepen its presence in the Chinese market and its long-term commitment to Chinese customers. "The Chinese market is currently one of the four major global markets for Volvo Construction Equipment. We attach great importance to the sustainable development of our business in China and actively participate in the construction of various key projects. From 0 to 30,000, it marks a new milestone for Volvo Construction Equipment in China. This is a commendation from the Chinese market to Volvo Construction Equipment, and it is also an encouragement and spur to us." said Li Yan, President of Volvo Construction Equipment (China) Co., Ltd.
Adhering to the core values of "quality", "safety" and "environmental protection", Volvo Construction Equipment will consistently provide Chinese customers with high-quality equipment, innovative on-site operation solutions and perfect after-market services, and deepen the digitalization process to continuously meet the diversified operation needs of the Chinese market. While helping Chinese customers to develop their business, it will continue to promote the application of intelligence and electrification in construction management to achieve a more efficient, cleaner and better future.
